OLIVIA + KYLE

Tocal Homestead, March 2021

THE COUPLE | Olivia and Kyle struck me as such a beautiful couple, both very much in love and so excited for their big day. Olivia a nurse is quiet, shy and a genuine girl with a heart of gold whereas Kyle a fabricator is cheeky, mischievous, very outgoing and a bit of a smarty pants. Affectionately known as K.D and Liv.  A classic case of opposites attract. If I can be so bold, Chris Stapleton said it best - K.D is as smooth as Tennessee whiskey, Liv as sweet as strawberry wine and together as warm as a glass of brandy.

THE VIBE | Both having strong families ties, and a firm grounding in traditional values meant that the vibe for their day would include family, good food and good times. I would describe the ambiance and styling as country classic, with smatterings of dusty rose, gold, sage green, leather and cotton flowers.

THE CEREMONY | Let’s begin with the location. Tocal Homestead was the perfect country backdrop for their ceremony and reception. Each and every detail was executed perfectly, the team from Tocal set up the aisle and floral arrangements created by Floral Affects that focused on cotton flowers at the centre of it all. Liv had all of the details covered from parents’ gifts to bridal party personalisation and the ceremony was no different. Olivia had guests in awe as she walked the aisle with her father to an excited K.D. wearing a gown curtesy of Newcastle Bridal House and her makeup + hair by the enviable team from Lily Orah Hair and Makeupbybonnielee. They wanted to include their love story, traditional themes of love, and their family. As some family were not able to attend due to a Pandemic that shall remain nameless Liv’s sister-in-law recorded a moving reading of “What is love” by Unknown all the way from Scotland. After reading personalised vows, the pair were pronounced husband and wife, and K.D planted a kiss on his new wife and a spectacular dip to go with it.

All the moments were warmly captured by the wonderful Mel from Stories with Mel.

THE RECEPTION | The Hay Shed was transformed with country glam, and the pairs attention to detail. K.D hand-cut wooden place cards for each guest, photos of family, a horseshoe sign, jam jars and spectacular floral arrangements of roses and cotton flowers. The night ending with good food, lots of drinks and one hell of a dance floor.
